Net Metering
Net Metering Policy in Pakistan was introduced in 2015. The first Solar net-metering system was installed in Islamabad (under IESCO) in 2016, following NEPRA’s Net Metering Regulations. According to the report, approximately 2.2 GW of net-metered rooftop PV capacity had been connected to the national grid by June 2024. From 2016 to 2024, over 150,000 households and commercial units have adopted Solar net metering, with Lahore leading the list, followed by Islamabad and Karachi in Pakistan.
